Rare Week 2026 - what do we all think?

INTRO

    Ever since the first Rare Week appearance in 2013, the community has always had different opinions about it. While some love it due to being able to buy beautiful or nostalgic items without spending real money or having to trade for other valuable items, some are very against it. Some of the rares were very expensive, making players spend a huge amount of real money on them, which lost their value after being added to the store. But what does the community think about this year's Rare Week? Let's find out today!

A BIT ABOUT RARE WEEKS

    Rare Week, as the name suggests, is a special week during which items normally unavailable in the store become available for a limited time. The first one took place in November 2013. While it didn't look like the Rare Weeks we know today due to lack of any particularly valuable items, the theme that was introduced then (Rockin' Retro) disappeared from the store after a week. Today, the theme is named MSP Retro and lacks some of its original items. 

    Since then, Rare Week has become an annual event, sometimes happening more than once a year. Some Rare Weeks have been boring, while others have been full of controversy. For example, the introduction of Astra hair during the Spring Rares of 2018 angered a part of the community due to how much people paid for it before. Another notable one was Rares 2020, which featured Val Corset, MSP Beta clothes, and other items that the community found exclusive earlier, although personally, I didn't see as much controversy around it.

RARE WEEK 2026

    This year's Rare week features eight pages of clothing for females and six for males, blending newer items with old ones. As usual, the items section doesn't seem to attract many people, however, the animations are good - simple and remind me of the old MSP style.

OPINIONS

    To know opinions about this year's Rare Week, I have decided to ask a few MovieStars about their feelings about it. Here are questions and answers from MotherFeral, Astronomy boo, muralist, and peacherons.

1. What is your opinion about this Rare Week?

MotherFeral: My opinion's on it are that there were a lot of items that I liked but also a lot that didn't really catch my eye. Overall I think it's decent but I agree when people say they could've included some better items. I'm always happy to see the goldies back tho

Astronomy boo: I would rate it a 6/10 it's got more items than last rare week that's for sure and some good items!

muralist: I think this rare week was really weak and disappointing, but there are some decent items

peacherons: Most disappointing rare week I've ever experienced tbh

2. Is there any item you're the most disappointed in? What is the item you're happy about?

MotherFeral: Half of the items I like and the other half not so much but my favourite is the classic miss goldie and crazy 'bout you

Astronomy boo: I am disappointed in the last of shoes and accs tbh I wish there were more variety for the men! My fav item has been the bat wings for sure thought they're so good

muralist: In regards to the girls fashion I'm disappointed with the clown outfit, but I also dislike the fact that they put some of the same rares in both boys and girls fashion instead of all different items and letting people go to the other store for the other items. And I'm most happy with the crazy 'bout you dress and the platina horror hair because I think they are beautiful

peacherons: I don't like most of the hairs tbh. I love fem hair, princess toes and the tats though!

3. If you could add any rare to this Rare Week, would you do it? If yes, what would it be?

MotherFeral: I can't remember what it's called but it's that hair that's mid length wavy hair with the same texture as the miss goldie (if anyone knows the hair lmk in the comment or on msp)

Astronomy boo: DUCKIES. I NEED MSP TO BRING BACK DUCKIES. I need like 15 pages of duckies on my account because I just love them so much. Top 3 fav rares.

MY LOOKS AND OPINION

    For me, this Rare Week is quite good. Although I can't speak about the value of the items since I haven't played this game regularly since 2019, I really love the aesthetics of these items. My favourites are the Beach Glow hair, Lacy Nightmares wings, So Kawaii dress, and Crazy 'Bout You corset. I agree with peacherons - they could have included more old tattoos, especially the heart leg tattoo. I also really love the Beating Heart animation - it brings a feeling of nostalgia I can't fully explain.

    My looks don't vary much, but I really love combining this corset, wings, hair, and bottoms. I also bought a few Kawaii dresses, and I hope to match them nicely with other items to make more looks I will love.

Brazilian MovieStarPlanet - the biggest rumor of polish server

INTRO

    When I started playing MovieStarPlanet back in 2015 on the Polish server, many players talked about a forgotten, destroyed Brazilian server. However, there were no official mentions of this server, almost no footage or proof that it ever existed. Why did it become such a big mystery among Polish players? Was it real or just a joke that simply spiralled out of control? In this post, I will do my best to explain the entire thing.

FIRST MENTIONS OF BRAZILIAN SERVER

    The first known mention of the Brazilian server dates back to May 1, 2011. It appeared on one of the oldest Polish MovieStarPlanet blogs, made just a few months after the debut of the Polish server. The post was quite short and straightforward, featuring a screenshot showing how the author logged onto the Brazilian server. They were surprised to see many users at level 20, which was the maximum level at that time. In contrast, the Polish server had only one player who had reached it: Uluniunia. The author also showed the presence of a quiz game and wondered when it would be added to the Polish server. This little, easy post marked the beginning of growing interest in the topic...

MORE DETAILED POSTS

    A few years later, mostly around 2014-2016, several blogs began posting about it. In them, we can find more information about what happened to the server. Many of them repeat a similar story: a Brazilian user, /SomeIphone/<IPHONE>, hacked the server, which ultimately led to the server's deletion after he had an argument with his girlfriend, AmandaLejj. They eventually broke up, and it seems that hacking the entire server was his plan for revenge. Some Polish users say that the moderation team denies the server ever existed out of "shame after a kid managed to hack their game." Most of them came to the same conclusion: the server definitely existed. I personally remember seeing forum posts about this matter - most people believed in it, and also shared the story I've just brought up.

WHAT WAS THE TRUTH?

    Unfortunately, the reality of the situation turned out to be less exciting than we had imagined. The information was obviously fake news. The screenshot from a 2011 post came from a Danish server of MovieStarPlanet. Since this server launched two years before the Polish one, it makes perfect sense that it had more players at level 20. Additionally, we need to point out that the language in the screenshot is clearly Danish, not Portuguese - the language spoken in Brazil.

MY EXPERIENCE AND FINAL OPINION

    When I first heard about the Brazilian server, in what I believe was 2016, I was immediately curious about it. I wondered why no official sources ever talked about it, why only a small group of people seemed to know about it, and how this boy managed to hack a whole server. However, after translating the text on that screenshot, I immediately realised something was not right. I eventually found out it was Danish server. I remember feeling disappointed, in the end such a mystery was cool for any 9 year old. I also know just how much I was arguing with people about it, telling them they were stupid for believing in it.

    What amazes me to this day is the significant impact that one little post had. It began years of stories, theories, and conclusions. As strange as it was, it shows how our actions can have a bigger impact than we realise. In conclusion, if there is no concrete evidence, it's best not to believe it.
